Simple Flower Pot Tutorial

Here are a few simple steps in PSP V8 used to create a Flower Pot.
Though this tutorial was created using Paint Shop Pro 8
it should be adaptable to other versions.

To create this image you only need PSP ;-)

Let's Begin...

Raster 1:

1. Create an new image with the following inputs
72 dpi/ppi 500 x 500 pixels, 16 million colours (24bit) raster, transparent layer.

2. Double Click on the foreground colour to open the Materials Palette.
Click on the Colour tab and input this colour code #E08866 in the HTML area.
You can choose to save this colour.
Click ok.

3. Double Click on the background colour to open the Materials Palette.
Click on the Colour tab and input this colour code #C56744 in the HTML area.
You can choose to save this colour.
Click ok.

Save image.

Raster 2:

4. On the Menu select Layers>New Raster layer.

5. Click on selection tool and from the drop down list select the rounded rectangle.

6. Place your cursor at the following positions 100 from the left ,100 from the top
    and draw out to 350 to the right, 350 from the bottom.

7. fill with the background colour: #E59859

8. On the Menu > Selections>Select None.

9. Duplicate Raster 2.

Save image.

Copy of Raster 2:

10. Toggle, close, X the eye, the original Layer 2.

11. On the Menu select: Effects>Deformation>Perspective Vertical
and input Distortion 50 and Edge Mode Transparent.

12. Duplicate Copy of Raster 2.

13. Toggle, close, X the eye, the original Copy of Raster 2.

Save image.

Copy (2) of Raster 2:

14. On the Menu select: Image>Resize
and input 150 percent, Resample using: Smart Size, Lock Aspect Ratio
and no checkmark in Resize all layers, click Ok.

15. Move the shape to centre canvas..

16. Duplicate Copy (2) of Raster 2:

17. Toggle, close, X the eye, the original Copy (2) of Raster 2.

Save image.

Copy (3) of Raster 2:

18. Click on the deformation tool and Grab the top centre
anchor now displayed on the image, it should turn to an up/down arrow,
and move the top of the shape down to where you think it looks good,
Like the shape you want your pot to be.

This is the base for the pot.

Save image.

Copy (4) of Raster 2:

19. Duplicate Copy (3) of Raster 2

20. Toggle, close, X the eye, for the original Copy 3 Layer 2.

Save image.

Raster 3

21. On the Menu select: Layer>New Raster Layer....Ok.

22. Click on the selection tool, rounded rectangle,
draw out the pots lip. Make sure it hangs over the sides some.

23. Fill the lip with the background colour #E59859

24. On the Menu: Selections>Select None.

This is the lip for the pot.

Save image.

Now lets make them look more like the pot..LOL

Copy of Raster 3

25. Duplicate Raster 3

26. Toggle, close, X the eye, for the original Raster 3.

27. On the Menu select: Effects>3D>Cut-out and input the following settings:
Offset: Vertical -10, Horiz. 5.
Attributes: Opacity 78 Blur 15.
Colour: Shadow #C56744, Checkmark in Fill #E08866

28. Click on the pot layer, Copy (4) of Raster 2, and repeat step 27.

Save image.

At this point you have the option to continue so you can use the pot ;-)

You can choose to make a duplicate of the pot and lip layers,
closing the other two off, and then merging the pot and lip.
Or just merging the two you have.

And you're done.
